Craig Monroe, a former Detroit Tigers baseball player and current television and radio analyst for the team, is under investigation for alleged criminal sexual conduct in Florida.
This news follows the Detroit Tigers and Bally Sports Detroit removing Monroe from broadcasts after sexual assault allegations surfaced on social media. Monroe has denied the allegations through a statement released by his lawyer on Tuesday.
Gabriella Ruiz, a spokesperson for the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office, confirmed that Monroe is under investigation but did not provide further details, stating, “This is an active investigation, and anyone with information is asked to come forward.”
The initial report describes the investigation as an “alleged child sex crime.”
Monroe was pulled from his analyst role at Bally Sports Detroit after the June 9th game and hasn’t appeared on any telecasts since. Both the Detroit Tigers and Bally Sports Detroit confirmed his removal due to the social media allegations, emphasizing the seriousness of the situation. In a joint statement, they said, “Bally Sports Detroit and the Detroit Tigers are aware of the social media allegations and take them seriously. Mr. Monroe has not been on the broadcast schedule and that will continue indefinitely. We will have no further comment and any questions should be directed to Mr. Monroe.”
The woman who made the allegations stated in a video that she has already contacted the police. She is currently consulting with her lawyer and has not disclosed further details.
Michael Manley, Monroe’s lawyer, expressed in an emailed statement that Monroe “vehemently denies these claims.” Manley added, “Craig Monroe takes allegations of this nature very seriously and would never commit or condone such despicable conduct. We trust that law enforcement will uncover the truth regarding her background and motivations.”
As per the information available on allegations, the woman was 12 at the time of criminal sexual conduct which become repetitive in nature & she was living in Florida with Craig Monroe in the same vicinity. The Woman does offer specific descriptions of alleged illegal conduct in both video and text formats however refused to provide her full name.

Monroe, 47, played outfield for the Detroit Tigers from 2002 to 2007 and later joined Bally Sports covering the Detroit Tigers in 2012.
